Hot-Cold Plate Instrument

Currently, the common experimental methods (physical methods) for screening acute pain analgesics include the hot plate test, tail-flick reflex test, and animal plantar tactile pain irradiation test. However, these methods only measure the normal stimulus response threshold of animals, which belongs to physiological pain.

Physiological pain and pathological pain are essentially different: physiological pain is an alarm system for self-protection to ensure survival, while pathological pain is a disease that impairs survival. Due to the differences in manifestations and mechanisms between the two types of pain, the experimental methods for analgesic research also vary. For example, some analgesics have good analgesic effects on both physiological and pathological pain, while others only work on physiological pain. Therefore, different experimental methods and instruments can be used to screen drugs with different sites of action.

The Hot-Cold Plate Pain Testing Instrument is a device that can conduct both physiological pain experiments and pathological pain experiments on a single instrument.
