Introduction:

The whole-body tremor response of experimental animals is detected via a gravity sensor. As acoustic stimuli are generated and intensified, the major muscle groups of the animals exhibit contraction and relaxation. Anti-anxiety drugs weaken this response and reduce its amplitude, while anxiogenic agents produce the opposite effect.

Technical Parameters

  1. The system is configured with white noise stimulation, narrowband white noise stimulation, and pure tone stimulation, which can be used for stimulating schizophrenia models and tinnitus models.
  2. The system is equipped with a soundproof box to effectively reduce external environmental interference; the size of the soundproof box is ≥ 35cm * 35cm.
  3. The system adopts digital sensor technology, which can detect the muscle group contraction response of animals in any direction of X, Y, and Z axes.
  4. White noise stimulation: The duration ranges from 1 to 10000 ms, and the intensity is adjustable from 40 to 130 dB.
  5. Pure tone stimulation: The adjustable decibel range is 40-130 dB; the adjustable frequency range is 90-32000 Hz.
  6. The system can set the startle threshold, startle time threshold, and startle initial offset value to complete the statistics of diverse startle waveforms.
  7. Users can automatically calibrate the sensor with one click in the software, without manual calibration, which is convenient and efficient.
  8. The system is equipped with a multi-level sound calibration table, allowing users to accurately calibrate the sound decibel.
  9. Test indicators: Number of valid test runs, response latency, response duration, average value of response period, peak value of response period, average value of sampling period, prepulse inhibition rate, etc.
  10. A highly flexible experimental procedure editor allows users to set different stimulation units and different stimulation protocols to complete their experiments.
  11. Users can freely adjust the startle threshold according to their experimental needs; the system can automatically refresh the experimental data based on the adjusted startle threshold without re-conducting the experiment.
  12. The system adopts a USB 3.0 high-speed data acquisition solution with an acquisition frequency of 1000 Hz, eliminating the need for complex gateway configuration and improving experimental efficiency.
  13. The system can display the waveforms of a single stimulation unit in an overlaid manner, and also display the waveforms of all stimulation units in an overlaid manner.
  14. Flexible background noise setting: Background noise can be set for each stimulation unit, each experimental protocol, and the interval between stimulations. Background noise modes include white noise, narrowband white noise stimulation, and pure tone stimulation.
  15. The system can automatically detect the response amplitude RMS (Root Mean Square) to evaluate the instantaneous amplitude of animals after hearing sound stimulation, and the range of the response amplitude can be set.
  16. The system can set a Gap to complete Gap-startle detection.
  17. The system is equipped with an external input/output module, which can be used in conjunction with synchronous experiments such as optogenetic calcium signal recording.
  18. The system has flexible data statistics methods: indicators can be counted separately for each experimental phase, or data from all experimental phases can be accumulated and averaged for indicator statistics.
  19. The system has a built-in data statistics function; users can select the data to be statistically analyzed, and the system can automatically generate statistical charts.
